Pleasantly surprised by this David + Goliath feel-good romp about a kind-hearted, community-minded, mandolin-playing beekeeper in rural Oklahoma and his cohort of musical misfit pals.
Like most films these days, it's too long, and the story is a bit all-over-the-place, but I found Matthew McConaughey quite endearing, and I haven't been able to say that a lot lately.
In parts, you might wonder if you are watching a music video, but somehow that's not problematic either.
With a cusp-y Rotten Tomatoes rating of 89%, I was willing to give this one a go in the theater and I'm glad I did. I agree with the NYT Brandon Yu's review, linked here.
